& Resources

Hang tight. Will update soon.

·  Online exposure to “marriage costs” reduces marriage intention (Gen Z, China) — PLOS ONE (2025) National sample of Chinese Gen Z shows that seeing more online content emphasizing the costs of marriage reduces marriage intention and raises expected marriage age, via shifts in “marriage cost” values; the opposite occurs for “utility/benefit” content. PLOS+1

·  Marriage reality TV shapes expectations/attitudes about marriage — Review of Communication Research (2024). A narrative review finds prolonged exposure to marriage-themed reality shows normalizes unrealistic standards and conflict scripts, which the author argues can undermine confidence in marriage’s viability for some viewers. rcommunicationr.org

·  Adolescents’ social-media engagement, relationship between attitudes toward marriage — Humanities & Culture (2025). Survey using MTUAS (engagement) and GAMS (marriage attitudes) reports that heavier social-media engagement is associated with less favorable marriage attitudes among teens (non-U.S. sample).
